The Bible and Your Job Performance

In the life of a Christian, some of the greatest challenges we may face will come from the workplace. You may work in an unethical, morally questionable environment. It comes a time where you may not respect your supervisors. Have you ever thought that your job was maybe meaningless? Some of us sit there and wonder if we are making an impact on our coworkers for Christ. Take comfort in knowing that you work can be more fulfilling and rewarding when you follow what the Bible say about your attitude toward your job.

  1. Work As If You Are Working for the Lord. Keep in mind that you are ultimately serving the Lord, not just people (Colossians 3:22-24).
  2. Create a Spiritual Hunger in Those around you. Your godly example can help increase your coworkers desire to know more about Jesus (Titus 2:9-10).
  3. Strive to be Responsible. People will respect you and your message when you can prove that you are responsible (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12).
  4. Honor Christ with your Hard Work. Don’t allow nonbelievers to criticize the Lord because of your poor witness (1 Thessalonians 4:11-12).
  5. Don’t Neglect Your Spiritual Health. Never place your desire for material wealth above your spiritual welfare (Luke 12:16-21).

  1. I worked many years at a place with no trouble. When the business was sold to the new owner group in september you could almost immediately sense that there was a different attitude how the business would be managed. It was as if the anti-christ had moved into the building. I resigned seven months later in april of the following year. You can tell if God is there or not there. Blessings to you.
